Local Information About
Pflugerville and Austin, Texas
Pflugerville
 |
Pflugerville, just a short drive from
Austin, is one of the fastest growing areas in Texas. "Pfluger" was the
name of a large German family that populated this area in 1849, thus, the town
became known as Pflugerville. We owe this family a huge round of thanks for
what Pflugerville has become. Because of their deep moral fiber and family
values, our town has grown to be a place where you will want to raise your
family. |
Part of Travis County, Pflugerville offers a
mild climate with 300 sunny days each year, affordable housing, low cost of
living, clean air, and beautiful scenic vistas. An extended hike & bike
trail leads to Pfluger Park & Pool, serving the town's residents. The area
is well known for its low crime and neighborly people. Taxes are among the
lowest in the state for comparable counties, and Texas has no personal state
income tax. The current population of Pflugerville is 11,000. With good schools
and an easy commute to Austin, Pflugerville is a great place to come home to.
Both Pflugerville and Round Rock also offer
great advantages to businesses. There are many new business opportunities
due to the area's rapid growth, yet this part of Texas has low business taxes,
low cost utilities, and a well-trained work force. Their proximity to Austin
gives good access to national and international markets, and the great quality
of life makes it easy to attract employees. All these reasons make Pflugerville
and Round Rock some of the most desirable places to live and work in the US.
Round Rock,
located about 20 miles north of Austin, has a population of over 61,000
residents (up from only 3,000 in 1970!). Round Rock offers great employment
opportunities, easy access to local colleges and universities, federally
recognized Blue Ribbon public schools, and a touch of western history. The
earliest residents were the ancestors of the Tonkawa Indians, who populated the
area as early as 8000 B.C. The Round Rock that we know today was initially
located near the banks of Brushy Creek, at the natural fording area "by the
round rock". Today, the landmark rock still stands as a tribute to the weary
pioneers who were looking for a better life in the west.

Austin, the capital city of Texas, hasn't
always been the bustling city it is today. The town of Austin was
incorporated in 1839, and was fast becoming a city by the 1880's. Rapid growth
100 years later, in the 1970's, contributed to tremendous local political
activity. As a result, strong neighborhood, environmental, and historic
preservation communities sprang up, and remain an integral part of Austin's
civic life today.
Diverse cultural groups have been attracted to
the area throughout its history, including immigrants from Europe, Africa,
Mexico, and Asia. Such diversity has enriched Austin's civic and cultural
life, including its recent development as a Mecca for music fans. Today Austin
is considered the nation's best read and most computer-literate city, the most
fit city in the U.S., and home to the most restaurants and bars per capita than
any other city in the United States!
